Internal Leadership

Recruitment Process Redesign

During the fall of 2024, I worked with program staff and one other NIS student leader to redevelop our recruitment process from the ground up. We realized that our previous strategy of relying on word-of-mouth marketing and our initial reliance on written application essays were preventing us from finding the best talent. After months of researching, strategizing, and prototyping, we. debuted the new NIS recruitment strategy for the Cohort 5 application process.

Recruitment process details and judging criteria are kept confidential to ensure the integrity and fairness of the talent selection process.

NIS Handbook Design and Publication

I worked with three other senior student leaders to compile, design, and publish the first edition of our program handbook, Becoming Next. Included in the handbook are the program's origin story, details on project types and previous high-impact projects, explanations of key skills, stories from former students that exemplify our values, and more. Every student in the program receives a hardcover copy of the handbook upon their entry into the program.

The NIS handbook is distributed to all students within the program for reference and guidance; however, it is intended for internal use only to maintain the integrity of recruitment and talent selection activities.

Mentorship and Talent Development

Over the past three years, I have served as a key member of the recruitment, onboarding, and talent development teams within the program. In addition to organizing and leading the annual recruitment process, I've taken on positions as a "Mega Mentor" (working directly with students in our leadership development track) and as a TA for the mandatory introductory course INTR 1050, where I work with the newest cohort of students in the program to develop key skills like ethnographic interviewing, presentation development, and insight analysis.

NIS Dress Guide

Included in the NIS handbook is a comprehensive dress code guide for any event an NIS student may find themselves attending on behalf of the program. I wrote the content and designed the layout for the dress guide with guidance and feedback from staff across various career-focused offices on campus. All NIS and NIS-adjacent events are now assigned a "level" from 1 to 5, indicating the level of formality and providing recommendations for female, male, and gender-neutral dress.
